About Us

Education and a lifelong love of learning is our passion!
At First Class Teaching (FCT), we strongly believe in delivering consistently high quality teaching through personalised learning programmes that will promote self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning. The tutors at FCT will enhance your child’s existing educational experiences; whether they are state educated or educated at home.
FCT tutors know and understand that children succeed when working in a safe, supportive environments, either at home or at one of our learning zones.
Through the development of individualised learning programmes, First Class Teaching will help to encourage high self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and promote a growth mind-set. This excellent additional support willensure that your child will grow in self confidence in the identified supported learning areas and will be able to transfer the taught skills by FCT to their daily learning. We also specialise in the  support of children who may have become disillusioned or let down by the current school system, children with Special Educational Needs (SEND),and those who need extra time to consolidate new learning.
At FCT, the tutors appreciate that education in schools is bound by strict timetables and so on occasion does not provide enough time for some children to embed their learning. We pride ourselves in being able to get to know the ‘whole child’ in order to provide quality personalised learning experiences accurately matched to the child’s learning needs in order for them to flourish and maximise their potential.
With over 30 years teaching experience, the tutors at FCT have extensive knowledge and understanding of educating primary aged children. We have exemplary knowledge of the National Curriculum, The SEND Code of Practice (2014) and child protection. All tutors working with First Class Teaching have current DBS certificates, carry photographic identification cards, and share our vision of promoting the whole child.
First Class Teaching is based in Southampton and covers the surrounding local areas. Tutors are happy to teach in your home or in their own homes. FCT can also offer small group teaching if this service is required.

Every member of the FCT team is carefully selected for their passion and strong belief in the need to know and understand the 'whole child' in order to be able to teach and support their learning successfully. Our teachers are both recognised as 'outstanding teachers' by Ofsted.
All the FCT Team are  fully qualified teachers, hold current DBS Certificates, which will be shown to each parent we work with, and are 'Safeguarding' trained.
